Social Media and the Rise of Fast-Fashion

Visual content is one of the most engaging forms of content and, since fashion companies often have an abundance of such content, social media and fashion are, in many ways, a match made in heaven.

However, the fashion industry was a latecomer to the social media scene, and arguably only started to make the most of the medium around 2009-10.

Five years on, and we’re starting to see the effect social media has had on the fashion industry in general. And it’s fast-fashion that looks like the biggest winner.

Natalie Massenet and the Influence of Founders

I wonder what Natalie Massenet’s ambitions for Net-a-Porter were when she founded the company in 2000?

The recently announced merger with Yoox will hardly leave Massenet short of cash. But Net-a-Porter was such as a personal project – one which Massenet left her dream career as a fashion journalist to pursue – that it’s hard to imagine that money was her sole motivator.

TravelBird Interview - Jeranne Koekkoek on Creating Lasting Company Culture

Over the last five years our client TravelBird, (an online travel provider of inspiring travel experiences, with different offers available every 24hrs,) has grown from a team of two into a 700 person organisation. 

Many of the company’s hires have been made internationally, since this suits TravelBird’s unique requirements; the company has autonomous teams responsible for organising travel offers in different countries (all based from their Amsterdam office), and their preference is to hire native speakers to work in those teams.    

I wanted to know how the company managed to achieve such incredible growth, the role recruitment has had on this growth, and how they’ve managed to keep the unique TravelBird culture intact throughout.
