London Fashion Week - Emerging Trends

This year's London Fashion Week, which came to an end this week, featured stunning new collections, showcasing the best of British - from JW Anderson, Burberry, to M&S to emerging designers like Simone Rocha. Real and faux fur, pleats on gowns, skirts and coats, cool and electric blue were prominent, as were bare legs and Made in England (Cara) model-inspired bags.

One of the dominant styles on the catwalk during the event was the high-fashion tomboy style of Christopher Kane and JW Anderson. Kane's autumn collection included cocktail frocks in waterproof fabrics along with neon-coloured knits. The collection also featured long, fluted skirts and high-neck tops.

The collection of US designer Tom Ford, besides luxurious fur coats and cashmere and velvet dresses, also had a humorous side: it featured a sequinned version of Jay-Z's TOM FORD 61 football jersey, which the rapper wore at several of his concerts.

The Burberry catwalk show, which was considered to be the key element of the event, expressed a more artistic temperament. The collection was "softer and gentler" than previous ones, and included hand-painted bags, shoes and coats, as well as delicate silk dresses, leaf-printed blanket-wrap jackets and trench coats with hand-painted flowers.

The event also saw the debut of Marks & Spencer's autumn 2014 Best of British collection, which celebrates British design, fabric and manufacturing.

With so much talent, kookiness and surprise this year, we cannot wait for what the next London Fashion Week brings. Watch this space...
