It’s All Change at The Top
Change has become a running theme for HVO Search over the last few weeks. As I’ve looked at how we can make changes to our personal lives, many of fashion’s most senior figures appear to be making dramatic changes to theirs. So, who’s moving – and where are they going?

Givenchy’s creative director, Riccardo Tisci, has left the company. After a 12-year tenure, the much-liked designer decided it was time to move on at the end of January, making his menswear and couture collections shown in Paris on 20 January his last. Whilst his replacement is not yet known, many are speculating that he may join Versace.
Stefan Larsson, chief executive of Ralph Lauren, has announced that he will leave the company on 1 May with a $10m pay settlement after disagreements with the man himself over the direction of the brand. Larsson’s leaving comes after a 12 percent in Holiday quarter revenue.
And it’s a similar story at Tiffany & Co, where CEO Frederic Cumenal stepped down on Sunday. Cumenal’s news comes amid the jewellery chains continuing struggles with financial results, including disappointing holiday sales. Board chairman Michael Kowalski, whom Cumenal succeeded in 2014, will return as interim CEO. However, Tiffany will look for a permanent replacement soon.
Perhaps more positively, Daniela Vitale is set to succeed Mark Lee as chief executive officer of Barneys as Lee moves up to become executive chairman. Previously chief operating officer, where she oversaw all of women’s merchandising, business development, digital strategy and store operations, Vitale is certainly a safe pair of hands and a visionary.
Last week I wrote that senior leaders need to be empowered “to take it off repeat and pave their own path”. With so much change at the top, we’ll soon see not only who will lead these brands, but where they will take them?
What do you think about these major changes in fashion? And what do you think the result will be?
