Google Hires Fashion Expert To Lead Glass Division
Google Glass has appointed Ivy Ross, the former executive from Calvin Klein, Coach and Gap as head of its Glass business. This announcement came ahead of the mainstream launch of its wearable headset, the online major said in a statement on its Google+ site last week.

Ross, whose most recent job was at Art.com, is replacing Babak Parviz to lead the team working under the company's Google X project, a semi-secret facility overseen by Google's co-founder Sergey Brin and directed by Astro Teller. The lab is where Google develops its major technological projects.
Ross, who also has experience at Mattel, Disney and has worked as lead designer at one of the world's biggest eye health product suppliers, Bausch & Lomb, hopes that her new role will allow her to answer the "audacious" questions that Glass poses. In an open letter on the company's social network, she expressed her excitement about joining Google, describing her new undertaking as "especially cool." She officially joined Google on 19 May.
Ross's solid experience in the fashion industry has prompted many experts to assume that Google is aiming to make Glass a more consumer-friendly product, E&T commented.
The company opened sales of its Google Glass to the US public for a single day on 15 April. The product was offered with a $1,500 price tag on a first-come, first-served basis. Last year, the company sold the device to 8,000 people as part of its Explorer programme.
Google Glass will be made available to UK developers in June, according to the BBC.
